The BC College of Social Workers is currently recruiting two social workers with deep practice experience, knowledge and a special interest in learning about professional regulation. Working within the duty and objects of the College, each social worker will support the enhancement of the role and reputation of the College amongst the public, registrants and other stakeholders. The successful candidates will work with a number of different committees, reference groups and/or panels while acting as a resource to the public, applicants, registrants, and others. The successful candidates will support the mission of the College to be transparent, objective and fair in all processes.
To be successful in these roles, the candidates will have a functional understanding of the role of the College and its relationship to the public, government, Ministry of Children and Family Development, professional association, agencies and other stakeholders. A broad range of experience within assorted aspects of social work is highly advantageous. The successful candidates will be creative, innovative and thoughtful, with strong analytical abilities. The College relies on staff to accurately assess information and make valid, reliable evidence-informed decisions and to present information in both oral and written forms to diverse audiences. One position is permanent full time and the second position is a temporary one year position covering a parental leave.
In this role, the successful candidate will be in a position to oversee complaint functions. With a keen eye for detail, the Director will plan and conduct investigations and assist the Registrar in providing assessments and recommendations to the Inquiry Committee. The successful candidate will have knowledge of, or experience in, administrative law. Please note this is a temporary position covering a parental leave. The person who owns this position will be on leave from October 2017 to October 2018. The minimum educational requirements for this position is a Master of Social Work Degree.
In this role, the successful candidate will assist with research and policy development with the purpose of enhancing the quality of social work practice in the province. An important part of this role will be building relationships with stakeholders through various engagements strategies including presentations and the facilitation of focus/discussion groups. Strong public speaking skills are required for this role along with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders. This role will also involve providing practice consultation with registrants, therefore the successful candidate will have a broad range of social work experience in a variety of settings and extensive knowledge of social policy and legislation. The minimum education requirement for this position is a Master of Social Work Degree or a Bachelor of Social Work degree plus relevant experience.
