Please join us in congratulating Deborah Jones as the newly elected Chair of the Board of the BC College of Social Workers for 2017.
Deborah lives in Victoria, BC and holds a BSW from McGill and an MSW from the University of Victoria. Her extensive social work practice experience includes child protection; youth and adult corrections; child and youth mental health; paediatric rehab; and early intervention. Deborah previously held the positions of Clinical Social Work Leader and Ethics Consultant with the Vancouver Island Health Authority. She has also held the position of Ombudsman of Camosun College. She has practised social work in three Canadian provinces as well as in the UK.
Deborah is a Registered Clinical Social Worker and has been an item writer with the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) for many years. She currently serves on the ASWB Clinical Exam Committee. She is also an editor for the Journal of Social Work Values and Ethics. Deborah has served on a number of Committees of the BC College of Social Workers and formerly, Board of Registration for Social Workers. Most recently, Deborah was Chair of the Hiring Committee for the Registrar of the BCCSW.
Deborah is semi-retired and provides relief social work coverage at BC Children’s Hospital and BC Women’s Hospital and Health Centre in Vancouver. She is married to a social worker, and both her daughter and her daughter-in-law are social workers!
